    Coating Filtration

Coating filtration ensures that no foreign particles or agglomerates from the coating itself are applied to the surface being coated. This is particularly important for products such as printing plates, medical films (X-ray), displays, optical lenses and automotive coatings.

Foreign particles or agglomerates in coatings can cause defects, such as spots on lenses or inclusions in automotive paint, which can lead to rework or even complete product rejection.

Air bubbles also cause defects because where a bubble was present, no coating is applied. Good filtration, combined with a properly designed filtration process, increases productivity and ensures consistent product specifications.

As an example, let's take automotive paints and explain where collaboration with us can bring advantages to the user.

Paint Systems for Vehicle Interior Parts

The application of coatings (e.g. hardcoats) can improve the durability and functionality of plastic parts in demanding applications. To meet high quality requirements, precise filtration is needed to prevent coating defects caused by foreign particles or gels.

Our filtration technology enables perfect coating results for components such as headlights, sensor protective covers and glass surfaces.

Especially for interior parts such as steering wheels or displays, a smooth and flawless surface is extremely important as the driver is only a few centimeters away from these surfaces. For UV coating systems, we offer black filter capsules.

    Exterior Automotive Paint

To enable manufacturers to deliver vehicles without visible or functional paint defects, all four layers of the automotive paint surface are filtered:

clear coat, base coat, filler and cataphoretic coating, where the thickness of each layer is between 12 µm and 30 µm.

Since paints contain functional components, such as pigments in the base coat, it is extremely important that filtration is performed so that color remains stable while unwanted particles are removed.

For clear coat, on the other hand, all particles and gels need to be removed.

TIARTEC offers filtration solutions for water-based, UV and solvent-based coating systems.
